Welcome!

The Friendship Foundation for International Students (FFIS) connects dozens of local families willing with international students and scholars every year. Families share their home with an international student or scholar for a few days before the start of the University of Oregon’s Fall term.  These home stays provide opportunity for friendship and allow the students to acclimate to our community in a safe and comforting environment.

FFIS also coordinates the Conversation Friend program, which matches native English speakers with international students for an hour of conversational English practice each week. Volunteers looking for something less structured are welcome to participate in our International Friend Program, which matches volunteers with international students who then spend time together doing any number of activities. The program is designed to be flexible, educational and fun.

Being a member of FFIS is easy and a great way to learn about different parts of the world. If interested please call Becky Megerssa, 541-346-3206.
